相关知识和文章The celebration of the new year is the oldest of all holidays. It was first observed in ancient Babylon about 4000 years ago. In the years around 2000 BC, the Babylonian New Year began with the first New Moon (actually the first visible cresent) after the Vernal Equinox (first day of spring).

The beginning of spring is a logical time to start a new year. After all, it is the season of rebirth, of planting new crops, and of blossoming. January 1, on the other hand, has no astronomical nor agricultural significance. It is purely arbitrary.

The Babylonian new year celebration lasted for eleven days. Each day had its own particular mode of celebration, but it is safe to say that modern New Year's Eve festivities pale in comparison.

The Romans continued to observe the new year in late March, but their calendar was continually tampered with by various emperors so that the calendar soon became out of synchronization with the sun.

In order to set the calendar right, the Roman senate, in 153 BC, declared January 1 to be the beginning of the new year. But tampering continued until Julius Caesar, in 46 BC, established what has come to be known as the Julian Calendar. It again established January 1 as the new year. But in order to synchronize the calendar with the sun, Caesar had to let the previous year drag on for 445 days.

THE CHURCH'S VIEW OF NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS

Although in the first centuries AD the Romans continued celebrating the new year, the early Catholic Church condemned the festivities as paganism. But as Christianity became more widespread, the early church began having its own religious observances concurrently with many of the pagan celebrations, and New Year's Day was no different. New Years is still observed as the Feast of Christ's Circumcision by some denominations.

首先对比一下学校的英语教材

牛津英语和新世纪

共同点

两本教材的编写都很专业也很科学，非常注意培养学生的交际和实用能力。

不同点

侧重点不同

牛津教材更注重中国学生，而新世纪在内容编排上更加针对上海本地学生。

牛津教材有点侧重科学，而新世纪侧重人文；比如牛津教材里面多次提到环保，课文中让学生了解环境污染破坏的问题其实是为了培养环保意识；当提到饮食的问题，牛津就谈到健康饮食和减肥。而新世纪教材关注的更多是培养学生国际化意识，里面出现了大量的人物都是外国人。

点评：感觉牛津有点像理科；而新世纪有点像文科

语法，词汇

相对于牛津教材，新世纪对词汇和文法要求更高，所以难度相对更高。

适合人群：小学四年级以上已经具备了初步听说能力的学生

优点：

大量实用的句型训练和贴近生活的情景对话，为语言学习者提供了很好的语言材料

缺点：

交际场景过于成人化，对于小学生的理解存在难度，语言本身的难度适合小学高年级学生但内容适合初中生。而且不是从整体语言内容设计编排上由易到难的递进，而是仅仅通过句型的简单到复杂来提升，不符合语言学习的规律

个人点评：小孩子和大人都难以持续保持热情的教材

没有深入了解该教材，但是通过其他老师得知这个教材过于强调读写和文法，不注重听说，脱离了小学生英语语言学习的实际水平，对于基础语言能力的培养应该来说并不是最理想的。这个教材的流行，可能是因为比较早进入国内市场，先入为主，再加上配有考试，在疯狂的应试中老师和家长可能都没时间思考是否真的适合孩子的启蒙教学。

趣趣英语《Fun Fun English》

由外研社引进出版，由韩国人编写的少儿英语学习教材。我有教授过，所以通过亲身经历觉得前三册作为少儿入门教材非常不错。不过到了小学高年级就可以另外换了。学到小学三年级都没什么问题。里面的卡通图片非常受小朋友们的欢迎，里面场景的编排也围绕着孩子的生活，非常可爱！值得推荐！

是我所见过的目前最值得称赞的少儿英语教材！！！如果配上能够理解这个教材的老师来教，就完美了。里面可爱的图片，围绕孩子的生活而设计的语言材料，真的做到了以学生为导向。虽然我没有教过这个教材，但是我非常喜欢！！包括Oxford University Press出版的配套Let’s Go的书，都是超赞的！感谢少儿英语专家们的著作！从幼儿园大班一直到小学三年级用Let’s Go的教材都没问题！

2、家庭人均年收入低于当地城镇居民人均可支配收入；
